Pune, Nov. 11 -- The Central government has approved the purchase of 1,000 electric buses (e-buses) for Pune city under the PM-E Drive scheme, said union Minister Murlidhar Mohol here on Tuesday through a press release.

He said union Minister for Heavy Industries HD Kumaraswamy has given the final nod. These buses will soon be added to the fleet of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML). As a result, Pune's public transport system will become stronger, traffic congestion will be reduced, and pollution control efforts will be supported, Mohol said.

PMPML is the primary public transport system serving Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMRDA) areas. The PMPML currently operates around 2,000 buses, of whic...
