Pune, July 16 -- Former MLA and senior Maharashtra Pradesh Congress vice-president Mohan Joshi has questioned why the Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar Metro service has not yet commenced despite the completion of safety inspections.
In a statement, Joshi alleged that repeated announcements regarding the launch of the metro project had failed to materialise.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced in Pune that the first phase would be operational in May and the second phase in July. However, neither deadline was met, he said.
Commuters had expected at least the first phase to begin on July 15, but that plan too appears to have been delayed, Joshi alleged.
