New Delhi, July 14 -- On being conferred the 60th Jnanpith Award for 2025, India's highest literary honour, eminent Tamil poet, lyricist and litterateur R. Vairamuthu said the recognition "belongs not only to me but also to the Tamil language and the wider fraternity of Indian literature."The award was presented by noted statesman and scholar Karan Singh at a ceremony held at the Chinmaya Mission Auditorium on Monday in the presence of writers, literary figures and academicians from across the country.

As a part of the honour, Vairamuthu received a cash prize of Rs 11 lakh, a bronze statue of Vagdevi (Goddess Saraswati) and a citation.
