Mumbai, Oct. 26 -- Veteran Mumbai batsman Ajinkya Rahane today expressed that Team India needed him in Australia, underlining his continued focus on domestic cricket despite being out of national reckoning for over two years.

Rahane made the remarks after scoring another century for Mumbai against Chhattisgarh, with his celebrations notably subdued as he simply raised his bat, acknowledged the dressing room, and returned to the crease.

"Whether they select me or not, that's their call, but I personally feel that Team India needed me in Australia, and I was fully ready for it," Rahane said, reflecting on India's disappointing series defeat in Australia earlier this year.
