New Delhi, March 10 -- The Centre has taken several measures to strengthen the flow of institutional credit to the agriculture sector, including raising the limit for collateral-free short-term agricultural loans from Rs 1.6 lakh to Rs 2 lakh per borrower, the Rajya sabha was informed on Tuesday.

In a written reply, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said the government has implemented multiple initiatives to improve access to affordable credit for farmers, particularly small and marginal farmers, and to ensure adequate institutional lending to agriculture and allied activities.
