Lucknow, April 13 -- Samajwadi Party (SP) National President Akhilesh Yadav Monday criticized the government's recent sealing of Meerut's Central Market, following a Supreme Court order.

Launching a scathing attack on the BJP government's economic policies, he said that a new "economic freedom movement" in the country could begin in Meerut.

On his social media account, Akhilesh Yadav cited the historic 1857 revolution, saying that just as Meerut played a key role in the freedom struggle, the city could now become the epicenter of a mass movement against economic policies of the government.
