Amravati, Aug. 11 -- The demand to confer Bharat Ratna on Rashtrasant Tukdoji Maharaj has intensified in Maharashtra, with devotees of the spiritual leader and activists launching an indefinite hunger strike and chain fast at the Tivsa tehsil office.
The agitation began on agust Kranti Din with a symbolic 'Kranti Jyot'. Protesters say the fast will continue until the Centre announces the award.
Social activists Mukund Punse, Jaykumar Boke, Rameshrao Boke and Haibatrao Gadge are among those participating, along with hundreds of followers. They have expressed strong resentment over the delay in recognising Tukdoji Maharaj.
