Bengaluru, April 14 -- Slogans projecting union Minister HD Kumaraswamy as the "next chief minister" at a party event on Tuesday generated fresh buzz within the BJP-Janata Dal (Secular) alliance in Karnataka, bringing the issue of leadership back into discussion.
The chants were raised during Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations at the JD(S) state office, where party workers expressed support for Kumaraswamy's leadership. The development has drawn attention to the question of the chief ministerial face, which the alliance partners have so far not addressed publicly.
While the BJP has not announced any CM candidate, sections within the JD(S) continue to view Kumaraswamy, a two-time former chief minister, as a key leader in the state.
