Thiruvananthapuram, March 2 -- Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday strongly criticised the Congress government in Telangana over the demolition of houses in Khammam district, terming the development a disturbing instance of "bulldozer raj" after similar incidents in Karnataka.

In a statement, he said 700 houses built on Bhoodan land at Velugumatla village in Khammam were demolished in the early hours of February 25 under police protection, allegedly without issuing prior notice to the residents.

Nearly 3,000 people, including families possessing valid identification documents, were rendered homeless as a result of the action, he said.
