Sylhet, June 21 -- A young man died after being electrocuted while carrying out electrical work at a mosque in Companiganj Upazila of Sylhet on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Shuvo Ahmed, son of electrician Dulal Ahmed of Kalabari village in Purba Islampur Union of the upazila.

The incident occurred around 11am at Lamagram Jame Mosque in Uttar Ronikhai Union.

According to locals, Shuvo came into contact with a live electric wire while installing a lamp holder at the mosque, leaving him critically injured.

He was rescued by locals and taken to the Companiganj Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
