Dhaka, July 2 -- A Dhaka court on Thursday sentenced a woman to death for killing her husband and dismembering the body into six pieces in the capital's Mohakhali area in 2021.

Judge Nazmun Nahar Nipu of Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court-16 handed down the verdict.

The convict, Fatema Begum alias Shilpi, was present in the dock when the verdict was pronounced.

On another count, the court sentenced her to seven years' imprisonment for concealing the body and fined her Tk 10,000, in default of which she will have to serve an additional three months in prison.
