Jamalpur, Aug. 10 -- A tribunal in Jamalpur on Monday sentenced two individuals to death for raping a housewife in Dewanganj upazila in 2022.

Judge of the Jamalpur Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Muhammad Abdur Rahim delivered the judgement.

The condemned convicts are Ashkar Ali, 44, son of Mobarak Ali, and Zahidul Islam, 39, son of Asmat Ali of the upazila. The court also fined them Tk 1 lakh each.

According to the prosecution, the victim's husband and son lived in Dhaka for work, while she stayed at their village home with her 10-year-old daughter.
