Joypurhat, Nov. 1 -- Two people were killed and another injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a battery-run auto-rickshaw in Kalai upazila of Joypurhat on Saturday evening.

The deceased were identified as Enamul Haque, 54, the auto-rickshaw driver, and passenger Nurunnabi, 58. The injured passenger was identified as Sohraf Hossain, 53.

All three were from Aplapara village in Punot Union of the upazila.

The accident occurred around 6:30pm at Sarail in Kalai municipal area on the Joypurhat-Bogura regional highway.

Citing locals, police said a speeding truck heading towards Joypurhat collided head-on with the auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction, leaving Enamul dead on the spot. Nurunnabi and Sohraf were rescued ...
