Lalmonirhat, Aug. 15 -- Two people were killed and three others injured when a truck collided with a CNG-run autorickshaw in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat on Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Jalil, 50, son of Mohammad Ali of Dakshin Goddimari village in Shingimari union, and Zahurul Haque, 48, son of Tayeb Ali of Paschim Sardubi village in Barakhata union of the upazila.

The accident occurred around noon on the Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway near the Sonali Bank area in Hatibandha upazila.

Police and locals said the hired autorickshaw was heading towards Hatibandha from the Barakhata area. When it reached the accident site, it collided head-on with a Burimari-bound truck coming from Lalmonirhat.
