Dhaka, Sept. 19 -- Gas production from the newly drilled Titas-28 well was officially inaugurated on Saturday, with the well expected to add 12 to 13 million cubic feet of gas per day (MMCFD) to the national grid.

The additional gas is expected to help ease the country's ongoing energy crunch and support operations in the industrial and power sectors.

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resource Anindya Islam Amit formally inaugurated gas production from the well as the chief guest.

Engineer Khaled Hossain Mahbub Shyamal, MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Commerce, and Md. Ziaul Hoque, Secretary of the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, attended the ceremony as special guests.
