, Sept. 28 -- Three people were killed and seven others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat on Monday morning.

The identities of the deceased and injured could not be confirmed immediately.

The accident occurred around 8:30am in the Ghunti area of Burimari Union on the Burimari-Lalmonirhat highway, said Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Patgram Police Station.

Citing locals, police said the auto-rickshaw was travelling from Burimari Land Port towards Patgram when the truck, coming from the opposite direction, reportedly suffered a mechanical failure and collided head on with it.
