Gaibandha, Aug. 26 -- year-old boy drowned while bathing in the Karatoya River in Gobindaganj upazila of Gaibandha on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Asif, son of Fulmiya of Bakchar Madhyapara village under Kamardah union of the upazila.

Asif went missing while bathing with some friends in the river in the Khalsi area in the afternoon after playing football.

His friends searched for him with the help of locals and informed the fire service.

A diving team from Gobindaganj Fire Service and Civil Defence reached the spot and recovered Asif's body from the river about three hours after he went missing.

Masud Rana, Station Officer at Gobindaganj Fire Service, said the body was handed over to the family.
