Dhaka, July 24 -- Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad returned home on Friday after cutting short his visit to Thailand amid speculation over the possible resignation of President Mohammed Shahabuddin.

He arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka around 12:15pm, according to a release issued by the Parliament Secretariat.

The Speaker left Dhaka for Thailand on July 19.

Although he was originally scheduled to return on July 26, he arrived early, cutting short his trip amid speculation over the President's possible resignation.
