Dhaka, July 12 -- Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad on Sunday expressed deep sorrow at the death of former Speaker Barrister Jamiruddin Sircar, describing him as a distinguished parliamentarian and eminent legal expert.

Sircar died at a hospital in the capital on Sunday at the age of 95.

In a condolence message, the Speaker prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.

Sircar served as the Speaker of the Eighth Jatiya Sangsad from October 28, 2001 to January 25, 2009.
