Dhaka, Sept. 21 -- The Republic of Korea has contributed USD 5 million to the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) to help sustain life-saving food assistance, nutrition services and school feeding for Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh.

The contribution, officially announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of Korea (ROK) in July, comes at a critical time for the Rohingya response, said the WFP on Monday.

Over 1.3 million Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar and Bhasan Char continue to depend on humanitarian assistance, while food insecurity, malnutrition and other vulnerabilities remain high and humanitarian funding is increasingly stretched.
