Dhaka, Aug. 12 -- The government has suspended six high-ranking police officers for alleged negligence in professional duties, unauthorised absence from work and disobedience of government rules.

The Home Ministry's Disciplinary-1 Branch issued separate notifications on Wednesday, ordering the suspensions with immediate effect.

3 DIGs among 17 police officers sent into forced retirement

The suspended officers are Mohammad Iqbal Hossain, superintendent of police at the Range DIG's Office in Khulna and former deputy commissioner of police of Wari Division, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP); Kazi Ashraful Azim, former deputy commissioner of police of Uttara Division, DMP; Biplob Kumar Sarker and Sudip Kumar Chakraborty, both former joint co...
