Savar, Sept. 6 -- inspector (SI) of the Special Branch (SB) of police was beaten to death allegedly by a group of miscreants in Savar's Aminbazar area on Saturday night after he protested against a private car hitting an elderly rickshaw puller.

The deceased was identified as SI Md Altaf Hossain, 58, who was posted at the City SB (Marketing Intelligence) in Dhaka, and the son of Juran Ali Sheikh of Rupnai Gachpara village under Enayetpur Police Station in Sirajganj.

The incident occurred around 8:00pm on a regional road in the Baradeshi Madina Housing Area of Aminbazar.
