Sylhet, Aug. 18 -- Companiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) has been transferred amid widespread criticism over the recent white stone looting incident in Bholaganj.

The Public Administration Ministry issued a gazette notification in this regard on Monday.

Meanwhile, Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad was made an Officer on Special Duty (OSD).

Allegations of failure and negligence were found against them in preventing looting.

Companiganj UNO Azizunnahar has been transferred to Fenchuganj Upazila in Sylhet. Fenchuganj UNO Shafiqul Islam will be replaced Azizunnahar.

Azizunnahar joined as UNO of Companiganj upazila on January 14.
