, Aug. 25 -- A Rohingya couple has been arrested while attempting to obtain National Identity (NID) cards using false documents at the Kamarkhanda Upazila Election Office in Sirajganj.

The couple-Anis, 37, and his wife Rokeya Begum, 31-are residents of Ukhia Tengkhali Camp-12 G-4 in Cox's Bazar, confirmed Kamarkhand Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Latif.

According to police, the pair arrived at the election office on Sunday afternoon with forged documents to register as voters.

However, their names, addresses, and use of language raised suspicions among officials.

The matter was promptly reported to the Upazila Executive Officer and District Election Officer.
