Dhaka, Aug. 15 -- A rickshaw puller was beaten by a mob at Dhanmondi 32 in the capital on Friday afternoon while attempting to pay tribute to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on his death anniversary.

The victim Azizur Rahman, 45, a resident of Ghorashal village under Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station, had come to the area with a bouquet of flowers in hand.

According to police and eyewitnesses, the incident occurred around noon when Azizur attempted to approach the main road, ignoring a police barricade.

Seeing this, people stationed at the barricade stopped him and questioned his intentions.
