, Sept. 6 -- The High Court on Sunday upheld the death penalty of two convicts and acquitted five suspects in a case filed over the killing of a khadem of a shrine in Rangpur.

The HC bench of Justice Zafar Ahmed and Justice Shathika Hossain passed the order after hearing the death references and appeal petitions in the case.

The two condemned convicts are Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) Commandar Masud Rana and Liton Mia.

Those acquitted are-JMB member Ishak Ali, 34, Shakhawat Hossain alias Rahul, 30, Sarwar Hossain Sabu alias Mizan, 30, Bijoy alias Ali alias Darji, 30 commander of JMB northern region and Chandu Mia, 20.
