Dhaka, Sept. 14 -- President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Monday urged universities to step up policymaking and research activities to improve the quality of higher education.

He made the call when delegations from Khulna University and Islamic University separately paid courtesy calls on him at Bangabhaban.

As Chancellor of the universities, the President directed the authorities concerned to ensure quality education.

He urged university authorities to make every possible effort to ensure that students can establish themselves as competent professionals at both national and international levels after obtaining their degrees.
