Dhaka, June 1 -- The Power Division has directed all markets and shopping malls across Bangladesh to close by 7:00pm as part of efforts to ensure efficient electricity use and maintain a stable power supply during the ongoing summer season.

In an official letter issued on Monday, the Power Division said the directive follows earlier government instructions aimed at reducing electricity consumption during peak demand hours.

According to the order, all markets and shopping centres must remain closed after 7:00pm, while decorative and advertising lighting is to be switched off by 8:00pm.

The authorities have also requested organisers of social, cultural and community events to avoid using illumination and decorative lighting after 7:00pm....
