Dhaka, Feb. 7 -- A total of 4,538 inmates have cast their votes through postal ballots in different jails across the country over the last five days till Saturday as part of the ongoing voting process on the eve of National parliamentary election that is scheduled to be held on February 12, prisons officials said.

According to official data, 1,521 inmates voted on February 3, followed by 988 on February 4. On February 5, the number stood at 1,138, while 420 inmates cast their votes on February 6.

On February 7, a total of 471 inmates participated in the postal ballot voting. Among them, 448 were male and 23 were female inmates. Of the total voters on the day, 16 were classified as special inmates.
