Dhaka, May 21 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman visited the family of slain child Ramisa Akter in the city's Pallabi area on Thursday night following the Cabinet meeting.

The Prime Minister left the Secretariat around 9:20pm after the meeting and reached Ramisa's residence around 9:50pm, according to the Prime Minister's Press Wing.

During the visit, he consoled the bereaved family members of eight-year-old Ramisa who was killed after rape.

Earlier in the day, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed said exemplary punishment will be ensured in the shortest possible time in the case.

Ramisa, a Class-II student, was raped and killed allegedly by a tenant living in a neighbouring flat in Pallabi on Tuesday last.
