Feni, Oct. 1 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman arrived in Feni on Thursday afternoon on his first official visit to the district since assuming office.

A bus carrying the Prime Minister and his entourage arrived in Feni around 1:15 pm, said PM's Deputy Press Secretary Mostafa Zulfiquar Hasan (Hasan Shiplu).

A festive atmosphere has prevailed in different parts of Feni since morning centring on the Prime Minister's visit. Security measures have also been strengthened to ensure a smooth and safe visit.

The Prime Minister's motorcade left his Gulshan residence for Feni by road at around 8:40am.

He is scheduled to return to Dhaka in the evening after completing his daylong programmes in Feni.
