Beijing, June 26 -- Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Friday morning held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, in one of the most important engagements of his four-day official visit to China.

The meeting, which began at 10:40am local time (8:30am Bangladesh time), lasted for around half an hour, Prime Minister's Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said.

A wide range of issues related to Bangladesh-China relations, including trade, investment, infrastructure, connectivity and other areas of mutual interest, were discussed at the meeting.

Officials said the meeting is expected to further deepen bilateral ties and open up new areas of cooperation between the two countries.
