Dhaka, May 9 -- Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon on Saturday said a plan has been adopted to gradually allocate 5 percent of the country's GDP to the education sector.

He made the statement, while speaking as the chief guest at the China-Bangladesh Education Cooperation Forum-2026, organised by the Chinese Embassy in Dhaka and the China-Bangladesh Education and Cultural Exchange Association at the International Mother Language Institute in the city.

The minister said there is no alternative to improving the education sector in a bid to sustain the country's development.
