Dhaka, Sept. 29 -- The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Undertakings has sought an explanation from the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) as to how the country's fuel crisis ended merely after fuel prices were raised, despite no change in the supply system after the incumbent government assumed office.

The explanation was sought at the first meeting of the committee held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Tuesday.

The committee also recommended that the BPC provide detailed information at its next meeting on the country's fuel demand, storage capacity and its preparedness to meet future demand, according to a press release issued by the Parliament Secretariat.
