, May 11 -- At least 50 workers of a garment factory in the Bhogra area of Gazipur city fell ill on Monday, prompting authorities to declare a holiday at the factory.

Sixteen workers were admitted to different hospitals, including Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital, while others took primary treatment.

Witnesses said authorities of Panasia Clothing Ltd arranged a milad mahfil at the factory in the morning where workers participated.

While a mujanat was underway at the end of the religious programme, workers started falling sick one after another, creating panic among fellow workers.

In total, around workers 50 fell ill. They were immediately taken to hospital.
