Dhaka, Aug. 14 -- Opposition Leader and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr Shafiqur Rahman on Friday urged the Acting President to convene a special session of parliament to discuss the ongoing severe power and energy crisis and the deteriorating socioeconomic and law-and-order situation in the country.

He made the request in a letter sent to the acting president, according to a press release issued by Mujibul Alam, Senior Publicity Assistant of the party's Central Publicity Department.
