Sylhet, June 23 -- A man was killed and three others injured in a violent clash between two groups over longstanding enmity and territorial dominance at Lengura of Gowainghat upazila in Sylhet on Monday aftl0paernoon, police and locals said.

The deceased was identified as Kamrul Islam, 35, son of Kutub Ali of Lengura village in Lengura union.

According to local residents and police, tensions had been simmering for a long time between supporters of Kamrul Islam and former union parishad member Billal Hossain over local dominance and previous disputes.

During the initial phase of the clash, Kamrul Islam allegedly attacked Billal Hossain's daughter, Rukshana Akter, with a sharp weapon, leaving her seriously injured in her left hand.
