Dhaka, Sept. 14 -- Industry leaders on Sunday said the new telecom policy poses a serious threat to small and medium-sized internet service providers (ISPs), potentially endangering domestic investment in the sector.

They expressed concerns at a view-sharing meeting organised by the Telecom and Technologies Reporters Network, Bangladesh (TRNB), held on Saturday at the Rawa Complex in Dhaka.

Speakers at the event said that only a few amendments to the policy could significantly improve the outlook for local entrepreneurs.

Aminul Hakim, president of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB), said the association had already submitted its observations to all relevant government stakeholders.
