Nandini killing: Man sentenced to death in Lalmonirhat
, Aug. 23 -- A Lalmonirhat court on Sunday sentenced the prime accused to death for the much-talked-about killing of seven-year-old girl Nandini Kanta Roy in Aditmari upazila.
The condemned convict is Bidhan Chandra, son of Ranjit Kumar of Folimari village in the upazila.
Lalmonirhat District and Sessions Judge Haider Ali also sentenced Ranjit and his wife Mamata Rani to five years' imprisonment each, fined them Tk 5,000 each. In case of failure to pay the fine, they will have to serve three more months in jail.
According to the prosecution, Nandini, daughter of Nalini Mohon Barman, went missing from Folimari village on June 16, 2026.
Police recovered her body, packed in a sack, from a maize field of the village the following day.
