Dhaka, Sept. 30 -- One of the five students, who were injured in an electrocution incident at a residential girls' madrasah in Fatullah of Narayanganj on September 26, died in a Dhaka hospital on Tuesday.

Dr Sultan Mahmud Shikdar, resident surgeon at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said 11-year-old Atiya succumbed to her injuries around 5:30pm while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU).

He said Atiya suffered electric flash burns covering around 45 percent of her body.

Two other students -- Jidni, 14, and Lamia, 13 -- are in critical condition in the ICU, the doctor said.

The incident occurred at Mahela Khatun Mohila Madrasah in the Kashipur Hajipara area of Fatullah.
