, March 12 -- Senior parliamentarian Dr Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain , who chaired the first sitting of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad, on Thursday called on lawmakers to work together to strengthen democracy, ensure transparency and uphold accountability .

Addressing the inaugural session, Mosharraf welcomed and congratulated the newly elected members of parliament, saying the formation of the new parliament marks an important moment in the country's democratic journey following the recent national election.

He said the MPs have entered parliament with the people's mandate and bear a significant responsibility to serve the nation.
