, June 14 -- Missiles rained down on Israel Friday as Iran launched a retaliatory attack in response to Israeli strikes on its nuclear facilities and military leaders.
Air raid sirens echoed throughout the country, with explosions heard in Jerusalem and smoke seen over Tel Aviv.
Although dozens of missiles were reported by the military, no immediate casualties were confirmed, and residents were ordered to take shelter.
Israel's earlier airstrikes hit key nuclear enrichment sites and military installations in Iran, killing at least three senior military officials and significantly escalating tensions between the longtime regional enemies.
These attacks are considered the most serious Iran has faced since the Iran-Iraq war in the 1980s....
