Shariatpur, Oct. 3 -- Police recovered the body of a three-and-a-half-year-old boy from a ditch after it was found wrapped inside a sack in Damudya upazila of Shariatpur on Saturday, nearly six hours after he went missing.

The victim, Sowaif Hossain, was the son of a local resident of the Poschim Adasan area of Shidul Kura Union.

Police detained a man identified as Rasel Shikdar in connection with the murder.

Citing family members, police said Sowaif went missing around 7:00am while playing outside his house. After failing to trace him, the family informed police.

Police and Fire Service personnel carried out a search operation and recovered the child's body around 1:00pm.
