Manikganj, March 12 -- A couple riding a motorcycle were killed in a road accident in Shivalaya upazila of Manikganj on Thursday afternoon.

The deceased were identified as village doctor Monayem Khan, 50, and his wife Josna Akhter, 45.

The accident occurred in the Badalgail bus stand area on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in the afternoon.

Harun Or Rashid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Badalgail Highway Police Station, said Monayem Khan was travelling to his village home in Faridpur from the Dakshinkhan area of Dhaka on a motorcycle with his wife.

When they reached the Badalgail area, a bus hit the motorcycle while overtaking a pickup, leaving Monayem Khan dead on the spot.
