, Oct. 7 -- A man was shot dead by assailants in the Custom Ghat area of Khulna city on Monday night, in an incident that has all the hallmarks of a targeted assassination.

The deceased Imran Munshi was the son of Babul Munshi, a resident of Munshipara Second Alley. He was an active member of Khulna's top terrorist 'Grenade' Babu's gang.

Police said that Imran was walking towards Notun Bazar at around 8:45pm. On his way, three youths on a motorcycle stopped him and shot him in the head, leaving him dead on the spot. Later, locals took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital where he was officially declared dead.
