Chattogram, Aug. 9 -- year-old man was electrocuted at Ward No. 9 of the South Taylordwip area under Barkhain Union in Anwara Upazila of Chattogram early Sunday.

The deceased was Md Jamal Uddin, a former member of the upazila unit of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Electrician dies from electrocution in Dhaka

Locals said a fire broke out at the house of Jamal's cousin, Md Mujib, following an electrical short circuit.

Jamal went to the house after hearing about the fire.

Later, he suffered electric shock and fell to the ground while trying to switch off the electrical line connected to his house's IPS (instant power supply).

He later died before being taken to a hospital.
