Lakshmipur, Oct. 28 -- A soil trader was shot to death allegedly by rivals over a business dispute in Lakshmipur Sadar upazila on Wednesday noon.

The deceased was identified as Khorshed, son of Ruhul Amin of Dilshadpur village in Parbotinagar union of the upazila. Police said he was accused in multiple cases, including murder, illegal arms and drug trade.

Khorshed's wife Aklima Akter claimed that two men identified as Morshed and Majid called him out of his home at noon.

Shortly afterwards, family members heard gunshots and rushed towards the spot, where they learned that one Walid shot him, she said.

Khorshed was rushed to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital, where the attending physician declared him dead.
