Rangpur, Sept. 19 -- Police have arrested a man in connection with the alleged rape of a nine-year-old girl in Bahar Kachna, Ward No. 9 of Rangpur City Corporation.

Police arrested Imarat Ali on Friday night, said Ashok Chauhan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Haragachh Police Station, on Saturday morning.

The girl has been admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for medical treatment, he said.

The victim's mother said Imarat Ali lured her daughter into a bamboo grove with the promise of biscuits. He allegedly violated her after threatening her.
