Shariatpur, Oct. 4 -- A staff nurse was allegedly assaulted and a chair in a nurses' room was vandalised at Shariatpur Sadar Hospital on Saturday evening following an altercation over bringing tablets instead of a required injection.

Police detained the accused, identified as Muaj, a resident of Binodpur area in Sadar upazila.

The incident occurred around 7:30pm in a nurses' room on the first floor of the hospital.

According to hospital sources, Muaj brought his ailing wife to the hospital for treatment on Saturday evening. After she was admitted, a token was given to her husband to procure necessary medicines and an injection.
