, Oct. 17 -- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday said that the signing of the July Charter marks the beginning of a new chapter in Bangladesh's political history.

"After nearly eight months of hard work, today's signing of the July Charter has opened a new chapter in Bangladesh's political history," Fakhrul told reporters after attending the July Charter signing ceremony at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.

He expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to Professor Muhammad Yunus, all political parties, members of the National Consensus Commission, and those who worked in the Reform Commission.
